Not too many words can describe things that are running through my mind: immense, tremendous thankfulness; heavy, burdensome heart; excitement and apprehension; simultaneous exhaustion and refreshment; perhaps a word "paradox" will suffice.
But as I have been reminded, on Friday and tonight, all those feelings are quite meaningless, to those who believe in God and Jesus Christ, without the Cross. Unfortunately, the Cross and Jesus' death and resurrection, all too often, get thrown around and said aloud like any other cliches today; but we must not take lightly its reality and significance in our justification as His children. It MUST be remembered daily. After all, His death and resurrection are the source of all good things that we can do in the way that would please God. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). We can live our lives with confidence and assurance, even in spite of difficult decisions and troubles with family and friends, only because of the promise made by God and fulfilled by His Son.
Even as we pray specifically for our friends, family, our calling, the less fortunate and many other things, to forget the source of it all...that would be quite tragic, wouldn't it?
